In the current education and teaching reform, composition teaching, as an important way of cultivating language skills, has received increasing attention. As one of the evaluation methods for composition teaching, the multi-dimensional evaluation of compositions has broad application prospects and important educational significance. Under the current education system, composition evaluation usually adopts the traditional single evaluation method, mainly measuring students' writing level through scores. This evaluation method is prone to one-sided evaluation of students and cannot fully discover their writing ability and potential. The multi-dimensional evaluation of writing is a comprehensive evaluation of students' writing through various methods, in order to more comprehensively, objectively, and accurately reflect their writing level and development trends.
The diversified evaluation of compositions aims to implement the requirements of the 2022 new curriculum standards for composition evaluation, and encourage students to not only focus on form, but also on the expression of content and ideas in writing. However, it is not an easy task to maximize the effectiveness and successful implementation of diversified evaluation of compositions. Firstly, the diversified evaluation of compositions needs to be based on the theoretical foundation of the new curriculum standards, and guided by sufficient theoretical research and practical experience. At the same time, designing effective evaluation methods and implementing evaluation methods are also key to the diversified evaluation of writing. The evaluation methods can include self-evaluation, peer evaluation, teacher evaluation, and expert evaluation, etc. Different evaluation methods can complement and collaborate with each other, thereby improving the accuracy and reliability of the evaluation. In addition, the diversified evaluation of writing also needs to fully value students' participation and feedback, stimulate their initiative and learning motivation. Only through effective participation and feedback from students can a comprehensive evaluation and improvement of their writing abilities be truly achieved.
Multiple evaluation of writing is an effective way to comprehensively, objectively, and accurately assess students' writing skills and thinking abilities. Through diversified evaluation of writing assignments, it can promote the development and improvement of students' writing abilities, and cultivate their comprehensive qualities.
1、 Theoretical basis for diversified evaluation of compositions
①Theoretical basis for diversified evaluation of compositions
Multivariate evaluation refers to the comprehensive and objective evaluation of students' learning outcomes, learning processes, and learning abilities through different evaluation methods and tools. Multiple evaluation of writing refers to the use of multiple evaluation methods and tools in the teaching process to comprehensively evaluate students' writing. The implementation of diversified evaluation of writing is of great significance for improving students' learning ability and cultivating their comprehensive quality. The theoretical basis for the diversified evaluation of writing is widely derived, mainly including educational evaluation theory, writing education theory, and cognitive psychology theory. The theory of educational evaluation provides a theoretical framework and guiding principles for multi-dimensional evaluation of compositions, helping teachers and researchers to better design evaluation methods and indicators. The theory of writing education emphasizes the goals and strategies of writing teaching, providing specific teaching and evaluation ideas for the diversified evaluation of writing. Cognitive psychology theory focuses on the development of students' writing thinking and the establishment of evaluation criteria, providing a scientific theoretical basis for the diversified evaluation of writing.
There are still some problems and challenges in the theoretical basis and research status of diversified evaluation of writing, such as standardization of evaluation indicators and comparability of evaluation results. Therefore, further in-depth research and exploration are needed in the future to further improve the theoretical basis and practical application of diversified evaluation of writing.
②The importance of diverse evaluation in writing
Multi evaluation of compositions refers to the method of evaluating and providing feedback on students' compositions based on multiple evaluation methods and indicators. Under the requirements of the 2022 version of the new curriculum standards, the diversified evaluation of writing has extremely important significance. Firstly, multi-dimensional evaluation of writing assignments can help students develop and improve their writing skills comprehensively. Unlike traditional evaluations that only focus on the form and mechanical grading of essays, the multi-dimensional evaluation of writing emphasizes the expansion of thinking, clarity of logic, and uniqueness of viewpoints, thus more accurately reflecting students' writing level and potential. Secondly, multi-dimensional evaluation of assignments can enhance students' ability for self-directed learning and self-development. Through diversified evaluation methods, students can participate more fully in the evaluation process, actively think and provide feedback on their own works, thereby helping them discover and improve their shortcomings. Finally, multi-dimensional evaluation of compositions can help promote teachers' teaching improvement and reflection. Teachers can use different evaluation methods to gain a more comprehensive understanding of students' writing situations and needs, adjust teaching strategies, provide more targeted guidance and support, and achieve the common development of teaching and learning.
Implementation strategies for diversified evaluation of compositions
According to the requirements of the 2022 version of the new curriculum standard, the diversified evaluation of writing should be student-centered, focusing on the development of students' comprehensive qualities, individual development, and independent evaluation ability. In order to implement diversified evaluation of writing, it is necessary to develop and implement corresponding evaluation strategies. Based on the current research status and practical experience, the following implementation strategies for multi-dimensional evaluation of compositions are proposed here:
① Establish a diversified evaluation system
The implementation of multi-dimensional evaluation of writing requires the establishment of a multi-dimensional evaluation system, which includes evaluation objectives, evaluation methods, and evaluation tools. The evaluation objective is the core of evaluation and should be determined based on the requirements of the new curriculum standards and the actual situation of students. The evaluation method is the way of evaluation, which can use various methods such as homework, group discussions, oral expression, etc. Evaluation tools are specific tools for evaluation, which can use various evaluation tools such as evaluation forms, evaluation questionnaires, etc. After the promulgation of the new curriculum standards in 2022, we have also made many changes in composition teaching. For example, each unit's assignment should be related to the unit theme. The assignment goals to be achieved in this unit should be extracted from the unit theme, language elements, and assignment requirements, and the evaluation criteria for the assignment should be extracted. These criteria should be presented in the form of a list, so that students can have a basis for evaluation instead of vague evaluations. This allows the evaluators to have a clearer understanding of the purpose and requirements of this assignment, and to evaluate other students' assignments according to the requirements, broadening their evaluation language and ideas, and having a complete evaluation system.
For example, in the third unit of the sixth grade textbook, the assignment is: ______ Make Life Better. Teachers can jointly agree with students on the evaluation criteria and establish a multi-dimensional evaluation form, so that students can have a clearer understanding of what evaluation is and how to evaluate it. Can provide students with an evaluation system in their minds.
Evaluation requirements: self-evaluation and mutual evaluation
A composition is written around a topic of one's own choice
I have written down the sequence of events clearly
Be able to integrate ideas and feelings, and write down specific reasons for making life better
The vivid description in the article can arouse readers' interest
②Encourage students to participate in self-evaluation
The implementation of diversified evaluation of assignments requires encouraging students to participate in self-evaluation. Students are the subject of evaluation, and they should have the right and ability to actively participate in the evaluation. Therefore, teachers should encourage students to participate in self-evaluation and cultivate their awareness and ability of self-evaluation. By establishing student evaluation groups and conducting peer evaluation activities, students' learning initiative and creativity can be stimulated. In my class's composition teaching, student self-evaluation is very practical. Select three exercises for each class to read and evaluate together. At the beginning, the students' evaluation is simple, just able to say whether the exercise is well written or not, whether the word count is enough, etc. Gradually, as the students' reading and writing volume increase, they can analyze the text paragraph by paragraph and sentence by sentence, like analyzing a text, and be able to say which sentences are well written, which writing techniques are used in which places, and which writing knowledge we have learned from the text are applied. In the gradual practice, students' evaluation is not limited to superficial and simple evaluations, but can analyze the content and writing techniques of the article more deeply, and their evaluation ability gradually improves, which also promotes their writing level.
In addition to selecting three assignments for class evaluation, the students in the class are also divided into multiple groups for independent evaluation. The power of everyone is infinite. Working in groups of four is equivalent to having three opportunities to comment on a piece of writing, which also increases the room for revision. In addition, there is another way to evaluate the assignments in this class, which is to independently choose three classmates from the class to comment on their own assignments. This way, students have more autonomy to choose, and the way they evaluate their own writing is more acceptable to them, which is more beneficial for improving their own writing skills.
③Teacher participation in the evaluation process
The implementation of diversified evaluation of writing requires teachers to actively participate in the evaluation process. Teachers are the organizers and implementers of evaluation, and should assume the responsibility and obligation of evaluation. Teachers can understand students' learning situation and evaluation needs by observing their writing performance, communicating and discussing with them, and providing personalized evaluation and guidance for students. Student evaluation is a part of multi-dimensional evaluation, and it also requires guidance and guidance from teachers. The perspective of teachers is different from that of students. While students evaluate independently, if there are any shortcomings in the evaluation, teachers still need to correct them in a timely manner, give full play to their evaluation role, and guide students towards a more correct evaluation direction. But we cannot completely let students go and let them evaluate independently.
2、 Emphasize feedback and guidance
The implementation of diversified evaluation of assignments requires attention to providing timely feedback and guidance to students. Feedback is an important part of evaluation, which can help students understand their learning situation and evaluation results, discover their strengths and weaknesses. Guidance is an important means of evaluation, which can help students understand the evaluation criteria and requirements, and improve their learning ability and level. Therefore, teachers should provide timely feedback and guidance to students, helping them conduct self-evaluation and self-improvement.
Although self-evaluation and diversified evaluation methods are important, student evaluation also has certain limitations, so teachers are still needed as the correct guide and guidance. After students' self-evaluation, provide them with positive feedback and guidance, so that all members of the evaluation group can receive good guidance. The evaluators know how to correctly evaluate other students in the future, and the evaluated students also know whether what the evaluators are saying is correct and how to modify their own compositions.
3、 Advantages and challenges of implementing strategies
Multiple evaluation of writing can comprehensively evaluate students' learning situation and achievements, avoiding the problem of only focusing on exam scores. By using multiple evaluation methods and tools, students' learning abilities, attitudes, and outcomes can be comprehensively understood, promoting their all-round development. In addition, multi-dimensional evaluation of assignments can also promote the cultivation of students' self-learning and self-evaluation abilities. By participating in the evaluation process and conducting self-evaluation, students can improve their learning awareness and initiative, and cultivate their ability for self-evaluation and learning.
Diversified evaluation of assignments can promote teachers' professional development and teaching improvement. Teachers need to possess rich knowledge and skills in evaluation. Teachers need to understand the theory and methods of evaluation, be familiar with the design and use of evaluation tools, and have the ability to interpret evaluation results. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the evaluation ability and training of teachers, and improve their professional competence in evaluation. By participating in the evaluation process and reflecting on the evaluation, teachers can gain a deeper understanding of students' learning situations and evaluation needs, adjust and improve teaching strategies and methods in a timely manner, and enhance teaching quality and effectiveness. However, multi-dimensional evaluation of writing requires a significant investment of time and effort. Evaluation is a complex process that requires the participation of both teachers and students, extensive investigation and research, and the preparation and use of multiple evaluation methods and tools. Therefore, teachers need to fully recognize the importance of evaluation and provide sufficient time and resources for evaluation.
The implementation strategy of diversified evaluation of writing has many advantages, but also faces some challenges. Only by fully recognizing these challenges and taking corresponding measures to address them can we ensure the effective implementation of diversified evaluation of writing and promote the improvement of students' comprehensive quality.
