Research on Strategies for Stimulating Students' Learning Interest through Comments

[Abstract]: Teachers understand students' writing skills through their compositions, and students evaluate their own writing strengths and weaknesses through composition evaluations. The importance of composition texts is self-evident. However, the composition text should not be the only object of composition evaluation. Students express their insights on life or their opinions on certain phenomena in their writing. The content presented in the text is not only a process of students' thinking activities, but also a development of their cognition. Teachers should focus on inspiring students before and guiding them after writing in composition teaching activities, helping them stimulate their interest in writing and achieve progress in cognition and expression. In view of this, this article explores how primary school Chinese language teachers can carry out effective essay evaluation strategies, in order to stimulate students' interest in writing and improve their writing abilities.

Writing has always been a dominant force in the Chinese language education of primary school students. Writing is a comprehensive application of Chinese language knowledge and one of the ways of communication and expression. The improvement of writing ability is conducive to the enhancement of students' critical thinking and expression abilities, which is also an important indicator for the acceptance of contemporary educational achievements. In today's society, many key universities attach great importance to students' writing ability. Writing teaching should not only follow the command of the college entrance examination and middle school entrance examination, but also focus on improving students' expression and thinking abilities. The "Chinese Language Curriculum Standards" issued in 2011 set the overall goal for writing: "Writing should have genuine emotions and strive to express one's feelings, experiences, and thoughts about nature, society, and life. Observing life from multiple perspectives, discovering the richness and diversity of life, being able to grasp the characteristics of things, having one's own feelings and understanding, and striving for creativity in expression. When writing, different purposes and objects should be considered. Based on the needs of expression, appropriate expression methods should be selected around the expression center. The order and detail of content should be arranged reasonably, and one's meaning should be expressed in a clear and organized manner." As a part of composition teaching, teacher evaluation is also a very important part. From the perspective of teachers, using comments to observe students' writing process is not only beneficial for mastering. The thinking process of students when writing, Discovering students' writing patterns from it can promote composition teaching and achieve twice the result with half the effort. Secondly, it is possible to identify the thinking characteristics of different students, provide targeted guidance, promote personalized development of students, and facilitate teachers in writing personalized comments.
From the perspective of students, the middle and upper grades of primary school are in an important stage of laying the foundation for their writing skills, and are crucial for cultivating their observational and expressive abilities. Therefore, active encouragement and guidance from teachers are important. Positive encouragement and guidance are beneficial for maintaining the confidence of primary school students, and they will also have more desire to express themselves, thereby promoting the development of their thinking ability and genuine expression of emotions. However, in student-centered education, many teachers' comments, although positive, are vague and lack practical content. Therefore, teachers need to pay attention to and enrich their comments.
1、 Step by step questioning, arousing resonance
Comments are crucial in composition teaching, as teachers' comments can stimulate students' interest in speaking and lay the foundation for writing. Taking the teaching of "Kaleidoscope of Life" as an example, I will start with the topic of "Have you ever been bitten by mosquitoes, classmates. Most students have had the experience of being bitten by mosquitoes, so that they can relate to their own lives and lay the foundation for further in-depth conversations. Then I continued to ask, 'Have you ever caught mosquitoes?'. Some students may have caught mosquitoes; Some students may not have caught mosquitoes before. For students who have never caught mosquitoes, I will guide them by saying, 'Have you ever seen your parents or anyone else catch mosquitoes?' This will open up the students' conversation. In classroom teaching, the teacher's step-by-step questioning is a way of evaluation, which can mobilize students' existing experience and stimulate their interest in learning.
2、 Focus on the key points and take targeted measures
For students, having something to say and content to write is just the first step in teaching. How can teachers guide students to write specific key content and gain a good article? Teachers can use comments to provide focused evaluations of students' writing. Generally speaking, good articles have their ups and downs. Taking the teaching of "Kaleidoscope of Life" as an example, teachers can continue to ask: Did you find mosquitoes for the first time? I'm sure the process of catching mosquitoes is full of twists and turns, so the article will naturally have its ups and downs. Of course, the most important thing is that writing about events cannot be separated from people. Characters are the soul and core of events. Only by grasping the personality traits of the main characters can we shape distinct character images and write the process of events brilliantly. So, it is necessary to further guide students who are also bitten by mosquitoes. What are the different reactions of dad, mom, and me? Why is that? This way, the character's personality will come to life on paper.
3、 Clever criticism, inspiring deep reflection
In composition teaching, some students may answer incorrectly and inevitably make some mistakes in their compositions. When teachers conduct teaching evaluations, they need to make clever criticisms and guide students' thinking and exploration to effectively correct and improve. Some teachers may not give evaluations to students' answers that are irrelevant or give simple and crude negation during classroom teaching. Such comments will inevitably lead to students' confidence being undermined, and they will not be able to discover and correct their own mistakes, which will have a counterproductive effect. There is an ancient saying that goes, 'Those who touch the heart do not begin with emotions, nor with words.' In other words, the first thing that can move the heart is emotions, followed by language. For the problems that students encounter in their writing, teachers may want to change their thinking and not directly criticize them. Instead, they can try starting with "if" and using clever criticism to not only protect students' self-esteem and make them realize the teacher's attention and care for them, but also actively correct their mistakes. The effectiveness of writing teaching will also be significantly improved.
4、 Encourage mutual evaluation and promote autonomy
Displaying students' compositions in the class is a common method used by many teachers. Showcasing student compositions through various channels, not only showcasing excellent written works, but also showcasing creative sentences. More importantly, teacher feedback will be added at the end. The reason for displaying student essays and teacher comments together is to provide students with simple guidance on writing methods, clearly pointing out how to write here, where not to write, and what standards the essay should meet. This makes it difficult for students to understand and accept, and can also create a feeling of the teacher being aloof and hesitant to write freely. If students are allowed to comprehend and appreciate the methods and techniques of writing in their own writing process, it is a very long process. [2]
As the saying goes, a good essay is made by improvement. When primary school Chinese teachers evaluate students' essays, they can not only optimize their own comments, but also encourage mutual evaluation among students to enhance their self-learning ability. For example, when evaluating the "Kaleidoscope of Life", students can be divided into groups of four, read and evaluate others' essays, circle and comment on the corresponding good words and sentences, and finally recommend the best essay. By reading, evaluating, and providing suggestions on other students' compositions, and personally writing comments on them, students can not only enhance their autonomy, but also learn from others' strengths and weaknesses, leverage their shortcomings, and take lessons from them to continuously improve their writing skills.
In short, teachers need to guide, target, and scientifically use writing comments correctly, whether in teaching or grading, so that the comments can stimulate students' enthusiasm for writing and make them enjoy writing and expressing themselves.
