Return the classroom to the students

kawaguchi haruna【Japan】

Do students enjoy taking Chinese classes? Most of them are contradictory answers: like or not like. The reason for this Chinese language class complex that makes people half happy and half worried, even if not mentioned, is well known to everyone. I like it because of the rich and colorful content of Chinese language classes, such as essays, novels, poems, dramas... and the flexible and diverse teaching forms, such as reading aloud, reciting, passionate performance, reading appreciation, or discussion and exploration... There is only one reason why I don't like it: I don't want to write essays! I don't want to take the essay exam! So cultivating students' interest in writing has become the top priority for us Chinese language teachers.

However, this is by no means easy! It goes without saying that writing can be considered a spiritual insight to some extent, requiring a pair of sharp eyes and a sensitive heart, which many students lose before entering high school; It goes without saying that writing requires a rich accumulation of knowledge and a relatively complete knowledge structure. However, many students only master the knowledge in textbooks, and even have not mastered much of the knowledge in textbooks. A complete knowledge structure is even more daunting; The cultivation of writing habits such as preparing materials for essay classes alone has left me racking my brains. What shall I do? The phrase 'Return the classroom to the students... Teachers are the organizers, facilitators, guides, and collaborators of student learning' in the new curriculum has lit up a guiding light for me.

What left a deep impression was the guidance provided for the preparation of an expository writing.

The content of one unit in eighth grade is to learn explanatory texts about landscape architecture and famous historical sites. Studying the content of this unit can expose students to a variety of knowledge, broaden their horizons, cultivate aesthetic taste, and stimulate their love for Chinese culture. So, based on the students' unit preview, when jointly determining the writing training objectives for this unit, the writing content of "writing about architecture or gardens in Jinan" was determined. This can not only help students understand Jinan and their hometown, accumulate knowledge, but also cultivate their love for their hometown through this writing. Although many students are familiar with the scenic spots in Jinan and have visited them more than once, it is difficult for them to write an explanatory essay to introduce them. There are two reasons for this: firstly, there is no detailed and conclusive material, and what is already available is hearsay, ambiguous and uncertain, which is like a clever woman cannot cook without rice. There is no angle, no train of thought, and I don't know where to start writing. At the same time, after discussing with the students, I have concluded that preparation should start from the following two aspects: firstly, mastering the text, learning the writing methods of example texts, and fully utilizing the role of text examples. 2、 Prepare materials, fully occupy the materials, and prepare the materials. To achieve the second point, there is only one method, which is for students to collect by themselves. There are multiple channels available: you can bring good notes for on-site visits; You can inquire with elderly Jinan residents and garden workers; You can go to bookstores and libraries to search for relevant information; You can also search online and arrange for teachers and students to prepare together to see who is better prepared.

With this as motivation, students' enthusiasm for learning the text of this unit has greatly increased. Combined with the difficulties encountered during the preparation of materials, the questioning questions have also deepened. After finishing the text, the materials brought by the students surprised me greatly: there were various new or old photos and pictures; An old booklet with yellowed pages; Various books introducing Jinan's famous attractions; Thick notebooks of notes; A dozen or so materials downloaded online. Especially a few classmates went on a garden tour and bought CDs, such as "Poetry Talks about Spring Water" bought at Baotu Spring Park. I thought the materials I prepared with great care would amaze the students, but I was the one who couldn't close their mouths in surprise. Faced with such a rich and diverse set of materials prepared by my classmates, I am even more moved: Who said this generation of students has poor hands-on abilities? To show encouragement and praise, I promptly classified the materials prepared by the students and indicated the providers. Show and communicate with them during morning self-study and spare time. I also arranged a composition class and watched the CD of 'Poetry Talks about Spring Water'. When my materials were praised by the teacher and praised by my classmates, I saw the excitement and pride on their faces. The beautiful scenery, enchanting legends, and elegant poetry on the CD are so captivating that amidst the students' focused expressions and continuous admiration, I truly feel that they have been infected and influenced: how could they not love my beautiful hometown? At this point - perhaps students have already felt the joy of composition class.

I learned how to write in the text, so I just need to apply it flexibly. The materials are in hand, everything is ready, everything is ready. The next task is to complete the writing in one class. I saw the students' eager and eager expressions. There are no more sighs, furrowed brows, or whispering in class; I couldn't hear the sound of flipping through the composition book. Some are the rustling sounds of writing in silence; Some students have relaxed and happy expressions... Seeing these, I feel relieved: perhaps composition class should be taught like this!

How effective is it? The first time writing an explanatory essay, there has been significant progress compared to previous generations of students. And there are better compositions. The following student's assignment can serve as evidence.

Jinan, also known as the "Spring City". From this, it can be seen that Quanshui holds a significant position in Jinan. The Jin Dynasty's "Famous Spring Stele" lists 72 springs. And Baotu Spring, with its unique charm, ranks first among the 72 springs.

Baotu Spring Park is located in the city center of Jinan, on the west side of Quancheng Square, and is a landmark building of the old city of Jinan. Named "Baotu Spring Park", the natural Baotu Spring is the theme of the park, supporting other parts.

The Baotu Spring pool is square shaped, about 30 meters long, 18 meters wide, and 2.2 meters deep, with a water temperature of around 18 degrees Celsius throughout the year. Therefore, every winter, white mist rises from the water surface, making visitors feel like they are in a fairyland,. On September 6th last year, Baotu Spring surged again after more than 500 days and has continued to do so until now.

Baotu Spring has a long history, first seen in the Zuo Zhuan. With a history of over 2000 years, it is comparable to the history of Paris. At first, Baotu Spring was called "Jianquan", derived from the phrase "boiling Jianquan, maintaining its depth" in the Book of Songs and the phrase "boiling Jianquan, picking its celery" in the Book of Songs. As a great literati, Zeng Gong changed the onomatopoeic word "boiling" to "Baotu", and Baotu Spring came from it.

Due to its unique landscape, Baotu Spring has attracted numerous literati and poets, leaving behind many traces of ink, such as Li Daoyuan's "The spring source rises vigorously, the water surges like a wheel" and Pu Songling's "The most famous spring in the sea, unparalleled in Qimen Scenic Area".

Not only literati, but even emperors were enamored with it, and among them, the one who loved it the most should be Kangxi. Kangxi visited Baotu Spring three times. It is said that after tasting the spring water of Baotu Spring, he praised it greatly and switched to drinking Baotu water from then on. At the same time, Baotu Spring was designated as the "Number One Spring in the World" and the words "Stimulating Turbulence" were written to describe the immense water potential of Baotu Spring. The four words' pure and clean 'also came from his hands. Therefore, ancient people had the admiration of "not drinking Baotu water, traveling to Jinan by air".

To the north of Quanchi is Luoyuan Hall. On both sides of the door is a pair of couplets: "Clouds and mist are moist and steaming, but not shining; the sound of waves shakes the great lake. You may ask, 'Ming, why is there an' eye 'on the left?'? In fact, this was intentionally added by the author, meaning that there were too many springs in Baotu, causing the water to overflow.

So, how was Baotu Spring formed?

According to the hydrogeological department's exploration, the area 8 meters below the surface of Baotu Spring is composed of Quaternary sand, and the clay layer is 8 to 80 meters below, consisting of Ordovician dolomite limestone. In the marble above 30 meters, cracks and caves are particularly developed. Water flows from the southern mountainous areas and emerges from two cracks at 23 meters in Xiangju, forming two springs, one in the south and one in the north. As for the middle stock, it is diverted from the northern stock. That's why the water flow in the south is the strongest.

In addition, the former residence of Li Qingzhao in the northeast of the park is also a must visit. As soon as you enter the gate of the former residence, you can see four large characters: "A Generation of Poets", and on the back is "Recited for eternity", all written by Guo Moruo. Outside the door, there is the Shuyu Spring, which is why Li Qingzhao's "Shuyu Ci" is named.

Mr. Lao She once said, 'Without spring water, Jinan would lose half of its charm.'. At present, the situation of protecting springs remains severe. Let us join hands to protect Jinan, this unique wealth.

In addition, there was an unexpected gain, with 78% of the third unit testing achieving excellent results. Received the effect of promoting reading through writing and integrating reading and writing.

How about attending the essay class on how clear the canal is? Why does it have a source of fresh water? Being prepared is the first step. How are you planning to do it? The first priority is for students to be thoughtful individuals in their daily lives, adept at observing and thinking, taking notes, collecting information, and accumulating knowledge and materials. It is essential to learn the text well, master the writing style, and utilize the examples in the text. The third is timely guidance, assistance, encouragement, and praise from teachers.

In the preparation process of this essay material, students' diaries often revolve around this preparation material to write about their real experiences, personal feelings, and reflections afterwards. Reading these diaries, a lightning bolt suddenly flashed through my mind, and a long confused question suddenly became clear: Isn't this the material for experiential writing? I have always wanted to find a better opportunity for students who feel that there is nothing to write about experiential writing, but this opportunity came knocking on their door. So I seized this opportunity to consciously guide students on how to use diaries to accumulate materials for writing narrative experiential essays. Gradually, teachers and students summarized the three words' use '. Namely: 1. Use your eyes - be attentive and meticulous. Keenly observe the details and nuances of life around you in every aspect. 2. Handwritten - fast, genuine. Record your observations and feelings in a timely and truthful manner, to prevent their beautiful light from flashing like a shooting star and disappearing in an instant. 3. Think with your brain - be deep, be clever. Actively think and explore the depth of materials; Cleverly use writing techniques to express the main idea.

After a period of time, the enthusiasm of students to communicate in their diaries greatly increased, and the length of their diaries increased from the original limit of 200 words to mostly over 400 words, with many even being written as a single article of 600 words or more. The narrative essays written by students in composition classes or exams are almost free from the phenomenon of random fabrication, and many articles are based on materials from their daily diaries.

Life is the source of fresh water for students to reach a new level of writing, and it is also the source of fresh water for us teachers to reach a new level of teaching level. May we take advantage of the new curriculum reform, broaden our horizons, let go of our hands and feet, and work together with our students to find our "source of vitality" and achieve the realm of "clarity like this"!
