AI Mathematics Classroom: A Research on Junior High School Mathematics Teaching Innovation in Hong Kong

Abstract: Based on the current situation of junior high school mathematics education in Hong Kong, this study explores the innovative application paths of artificial intelligence technology and digital tools in subject teaching. By constructing a "four-dimensional integration" teaching model covering the technical tool layer, teaching strategy layer, cognitive development layer, and evaluation feedback layer, and combining three typical teaching cases, this paper systematically elaborates on how AI solves core pain points in traditional mathematics teaching through innovative strategies such as dynamic visualization, personalized hierarchical teaching, and cognitive conflict design, including difficulties in understanding abstract concepts, insufficient differentiated guidance, and weak cultivation of high-order thinking. The research results show that AI-enabled mathematics classrooms can significantly improve students’ depth of conceptual understanding (27.3% higher in the experimental group than in the control group), problem-solving ability (19.5% improvement), and learning engagement (85% of students demonstrate continuous inquiry interest). Finally, this paper proposes an "AI teaching maturity matrix" suitable for Hong Kong’s education system, providing front-line teachers with a progressive development path from technological integration to thinking reconstruction. It also clarifies that data privacy protection and the cultivation of teachers’ digital literacy are the keys to the sustainable application of educational technology.
